Description
"Our fathers gave us many laws which they had learned from their fathers. They told us to treat all men as they treated us. That we should never be the first to break a bargain. That it was a disgrace to tell a lie. That we should speak only the truth. We were taught to believe that the Great Spirit sees and hears everything and that he never forgets. This I believe and all my people believe the same."
~ Chief Joseph
The native american tipi is an iconic image relating to the heritage and the history of this country. Some years ago I had the privilege of constructing and living in a tipi in the High Sierras of northeast California. Inside a tipi it is like another world. The round space, the fire in the center with the smell of wood smoke and the sunlight coming through the canvas, all blend together to create a warmth that I hope to have captured in this photograph.

I love everything about this image, it stirs something inside me. I had the opportunity to build a Tipi and then hold a sacred circle with the women from my group in there. We had the fire as well. Magic...blessings

Ellanita, thank you for your lovely comment! I, too, once had a tipi in the High Sierras and as for you, it stirred deep "memories" from long ago ~ this image was an outpouring of this connection for me. I so appreciate your message here - now I know it has touched someone as well!!!

Though the fine beliefs you explain are right and basic for living purely, I adore your image for your own vision in the pure abstract, Well done.! Kudos, fv..VIVA

Very nice lines, shapes, and tones in this creation. This is my pick of the day in the Best of Minimalism in Photography group for January 18.
