Description
In Edgar Allan Poe's poem "The Raven",
the name "Nevermore" was the raven's response when asked
"Tell me what lordly name
is on the Night's Plutonian shore!"
Quoth the Raven "Nevermore."
The poem is a desperate cry about lost love,
and the raven has happened upon this grief.
"But the Raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust,
spoke only That one word,
as if his soul in that one word, he did outpour.
Nothing farther then he uttered-
not a feather then he fluttered-
Till I scarcely more than muttered
"Other friends have flown before-
On the morrow he will leave me,
as my Hopes have flown before."
Then the bird said "Nevermore."
